Miami is a place of beautiful beaches, sunny skies, and many popular tourist attractions. There are many things to see and do, and many attractions to visit. Warm and sometimes very humid, Miami nevertheless is a great place to experience. Though many of the attractions are fairly touristy, there are still a lot of fun and enjoyable activities to do and see.

Coconut Grove:

Coconut Grove boasts excellent restaurants, tons of shopping, and interesting sights. If you do decide to check it out, make sure you stay to the side streets and Main Highway. Stay away from Grand Avenue as much as possible as it will lead you to a dangerous neighborhood. It is nice to take a stroll down Mayfair and the Cocowalk as there are a number of cool shops and decent restaurants. The food can be good, even great, and there are some great knickknacks to be had at low prices. If you decide to visit, remember parking costs $6-$8 per hour. There is some live entertainment, but mostly towards evening. If you have kids, be careful towards nighttime as the young and beautiful come out to party at the myriad clubs.

The Bayside:
One of Miami's most visited locations, the Bayside Marketplace is home to tons of shopping, shopping, and more shopping. Bayside has a similar feel to fisherman's wharf or pier 39 in San Francisco. If you come mainly to shop, keep an eye out for novelty stores and bargains. Most of the stores are on the steep side and cater to the tourist industry. On the up side, the ocean is beautiful and there are a number of boat rides to take around the bay. Look around and you can find some excellent food at reasonable prices. There is always entertainment, but watch out for beggars and other unsavory characters towards evening.

Ocean Drive:
Ocean Drive is a tourist's shopping haven that happens to be home to some exquisite art deco buildings and is great for a short sightseeing jaunt or people watching. There are some great little novelty stores, but be prepared to spend. News Café, Cafe Milano, and Cafe Pelican are some of the more reasonably priced restaurants and also serve excellent food. Nightlife is average and there are some decent clubs and bars. Find out where the locals go and you can't go wrong.

South Beach:
The Mecca of all places to visit in Miami, South Beach is both a great beach to visit and a lively attraction. Interesting shops and numerous stores and restaurants abound as usual, and the people watching is great. While parking can be expensive, visit for a couple hours and you'll be fine. If you're going to make it a day trip, park down the road or take any one of the shuttles or public transportation that is available to South Beach. There is often entertainment and a very happening nightlife, as well as a number of good restaurants. International fare is plentiful and you'll find everything from sandwich shops to Greek and Italian food. Many of the restaurants are on the higher end, but take a look around and you'll find excellent, reasonable restaurants as well.
