Washington Overview

Seattle WA US Hotels

Rain and mountains, maybe that’s what you think Washington State is all about. Well, it’s so much more than that! You might have thought Seattle was right on the Pacific Ocean, but it’s actually separated by the million acre Olympic National Park and the salty Puget Sound, so it is waterfront! Seattle offers every imaginable caliber of Washington hotel you might require, so consider spending some time exploring this fun city. Eat the freshest food at Pike Place Market, ride to the top of the Space Needle for panoramic views or browse the Botanic Gardens at the University of Washington.

Directly east of Seattle, at the Montana State line, you will find the second largest city, Spokane. Smell the blooming lilacs, tee up at one of more than 30 golf courses and take a drive to the Coulee Dam, the largest hydropower producer in the United States. The capital, Olympia, is about an hour southwest of Seattle; visitors enjoy the many fine arts opportunities the city offers along with family-friendly attraction, Riverfront Park.

The cities of Washington are wonderful to visit, with all the amenities you would enjoy. However, it’s the expansive outdoors which truly shines! Mount St. Helens is an active volcano located in the western Cascades. If you are daring, you might enjoy a climb; however, every imaginable outdoor activity can be undertaken at the surrounding recreation areas. Following the Olympic Peninsula Waterfall Trail is a unique way of experiencing the ecosystem of Olympic National Forest. Visitors to nearby Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge might enjoy taking the several-hour, 10-mile round trip trek to its new Dungeness Light Station to explore a wildlife habitat. Another northwestern attraction is the San Juan Island National Historical Park which features evergreen forests, vast prairieland and orca whale sightings. Cast a line at Ross Lake in the North Cascades National Park Complex, and marvel at the wonders of Mother Nature’s hundreds of glaciers at the Canadian border.

Discover glaciers, rainforests and hike the 93-mile Wonderland Trail at Mount Rainier National Park, in central Washington.  Sun Lakes-Dry Falls State Park contains a geologic wonder, a waterfall 3.5 miles wide and 400 feet high – now bone dry! This park is between Seattle and Spokane. Washington may seem a long way off, but the effort is definitely worth your while!
