Ohio Overview

Cleveland OH US Hotels

Bordered to the north by Great Lake Erie, Ohio is a Midwestern state just waiting for you to visit! Capital and largest city, mid-state Columbus boasts the campus of Ohio State University, arguably the best Zoo and Aquarium in the country and the 121-acre Inniswood Metro Gardens. Drive a short distance south of Columbus and you can see sacred earthen mounds dating from 200 B.C. at Hopewell Culture National Historical Site in tiny Chillicothe. The Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park, about 75 miles west of Columbus, centers around flying and the famous Wright Brothers.

Everybody knows Cleveland Rocks, but did you know it also hosts the Pro Football Hall of Fame, over 100 golf courses and the Metroparks Zoo’s amazing Rainforest exhibit? And the city’s Lake Erie setting doesn’t hurt, either. Nearby Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s crooked river invites you to rest by her side and enjoy the flora and fauna. Mohican State Park offers hiking, mountain biking, snowmobiling and bridle trails, bass fishing in the Mohican River and tours of an 1831 grist mill. This park is equidistant between Columbus and Cleveland. This part of central Ohio also boasts the largest community of Amish; visit to learn about the unique culture and for handmade quilts and furniture.

Cincinnati’s Ohio Riverfront downtown is a hot spot for annual events, and the city caters to families with attractions such as Newport on the Levee, one of the nation’s top Zoos and professional football and baseball teams. Tucked into the southwestern corner of the state, fun spills over from Cincinnati into Kentucky and Indiana.

Find the Wayne National Forest in the Appalachian foothills of southeastern Ohio, where you can ride ATVs, horses or your bike through a quarter million acres. The only questions are when you will visit and which of the wonderful Ohio hotels you will select – get busy!
