Nevada Overview

Gambling Hotels Las Vegas NV

Tourism is the name of the game in Nevada. From its big-time casinos to historic cities to colorful canyons, sparkling lakes and arid deserts, the Silver State has it all! Las Vegas and Henderson are found in the southern tip of the state. LAS is one of the busiest airports in the world, making the area quite accessible. It’s worth a trip just to see Las Vegas Boulevard, known as “The Strip”, for the neon lights of casinos and famous Nevada hotels you have seen spotlighted on television and in movies.  Each year 35 million enthusiastic visitors play Blackjack, ride the craziest roller coasters, see world-renowned artwork at The Bellagio, check out the white tigers at The Mirage and nosh on artfully created dishes at famed eateries. World class golf courses and designer shops abound for a break from gambling. Red Rock Canyon is at the city limits, sporting spectacular colors and sunsets with miles of trails.

Sparkling Lake Tahoe is located on the western state line between Nevada and California amid majestic Sierra Nevada peaks. Hordes of visitors flock there for summer boating, winter skiing and year-round, world-class casinos. Carson City is just to the east of the lake; its State Capitol Building may be found along the 2.5 mile Kit Carson Trail. Other attractions include the Nevada State Railroad Museum and the Brewery Arts Center, built in 1865. Reno/Sparks is also relatively close to Lake Tahoe; along with gambling you can whitewater raft the Truckee River or tour the National Automobile Museum’s over 200 antique, vintage and classic vehicles.

Between Reno and Carson City you can visit the historic mining town, Virginia City. Lake Mead National Recreation Area may be found just east of Las Vegas, giving you the opportunity to fish, hike, bike and camp; adjacent Valley of Fire State Park features petrified wood and ancient petroglyphs. A small portion of Death Valley National Park spills over into the state, and Great Basin National Park along the eastern border with Utah features caves, desert and the over 13,000 foot high Wheeler Peak. Nevada offers a little of everything for the best vacation ever!
