Reno Nevada Travel Guide

Where is the Biggest Little City in the World? It’s in the southwest corner of Nevada! Reno adopted this slogan to distinguish itself as a destination with activities which belie its smaller size.Gambling at Casino Pioneering Reno Nevada hotels, Harrah’s Entertainment, founded in 1937, is the global leader in gaming entertainment, drawing millions of visitors to Reno each year.

Reno is often paired with Lake Tahoe as a well-rounded vacation. Many visitors choose to fly into Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO), spend a few days in one of the affordable Reno, NV hotels,  then drive to Lake Tahoe to enjoy the lake, mountains and all their related activities. This itinerary really makes for a fun, varied vacation.

Once in Reno you will be amazed at all the big things this little city has to offer. Gambling is, of course, the lifeblood of the area. Several casinos are at your fingertips and provide hotels, restaurants and everything you need for a home base in Reno. Use our Hotels tab at the top of this page to search for and read about all the accommodations available. Perhaps you are travelling with family and do not enjoy the gambling scene; no problem, we feature a variety of hotels at the best prices.

Whitewater RaftingEvery outdoor indulgence is available including hiking, biking, swimming and skiing. The stunning backdrop of the Sierra Nevada Mountains makes all these activities all the more enjoyable. Get your blood pumping by whitewater rafting the Truckee River. You can spend hours at the Bartley Ranch Regional Park hiking and seeing its horse arena. The dry desert climate is great pretty much all year round, making planning your visit easy.

There is much more to the area than gambling and outdoor sports. Explore the Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center for stunning star-gazing. The National Automobile Museum is a great place to see over 200 antique, vintage and classic vehicles. Spend a little time at the 38 acre Animal Ark Wildlife Sanctuary to observe their non-releasable charges. You can even ice skate at Rink on the River.

Reno has a variety of annual events such as Hot August Nights (car show), Street Vibrations (motorcycle festival), The Great Reno Balloon Race and Reno National Championship Air Races. There is no reason to be bored in Reno – come any day of the year and you will enjoy yourself in this complete destination!
