The Historic Island Inn was established in 1895 as a bed and breakfast on the Gulf shores of Sanibel Island. Small white cottages still sit along side the newly renovated lodges. As a Sanibel Island landmark- the new decor enhances the heritage of the Inn. The Gulf view lobby- dining room and library are adorned with collections of treasured shells- photos and memorabilia. The original wooden floors were restored to sit and relax fireside. The decor is reminiscent of the Olde Florida charm with white cottage furniture and chintz fabrics. The renovated waterside Kimball Lobby offers tables and chairs for board or card games, a grand piano, a large screen TV, and wicker sofas that invite conversation.
