Ludwig Erhard Haust - The London architect Nicholas Grimshaw created a futuristic and, at the same time, archaic form for the joint new building of the Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) and the Berlin Stock Exchange.

Zoo-Palast - For more than 40 years Zoo-Palast was the main cinema of the International Film Festival in Berlin. In May 1957 the building was inaugurated with its two cinemas.

TV Tower - The TV Tower next to Alexanderplatz has become one of the symbols of the city of Berlin. Designed by Hermann Henselmann and built between 1965 and 1969.

Federal Chancellery (Bundeskanzleramt) - The Federal Chancellery stands at the western end of the "band of federal buildings", the architectural clasp in the northern part of Tiergarten Park that stretches across the bend in the River Spree to form a symbolic link between East and West.

Alexander Square (Alexanderplatz) - This place was the center of the eastern part of Berlin during the wall from 1961 until 1989.

Berlin Cathedral - The cathedral which Frederick II had built next to the Lustgarten in 1747 was redesigned by Schinkel in 1817. Today's monumental structure was erected between 1894 and 1905 to plans by Julius Raschdorff and his son, Otto.

US Embassy - As is the case with Great Britain and France, the United States have decided to erect their new embassy on the site of the one it occupied from 1931 onwards in the south-western corner of Pariser Platz.

Russian Embassy - Even before the founding of the German Democratic Republic in 1949, the Soviet Union planned to erect a new embassy building at its established historical site on Unter den Linden, the site where J. Boumann constructed a palatial residence in 1765.

Checkpoint Charlie - The famous point of entry during the wall in Berlin. At 4 km distance.

Kurfurstendamm - The Kurfürstendamm, sloppy called Kudamm is famous as a shopping- and pleasure-boulevard all over the world.

Europa-Center - The Europa-Center was erected between 1963 and 1965 according to plans by Helmut Hentrich and Hubert Petschnigg. With its 22 storeys, the observation terrace which has since been closed and a Mercedes star on the roof, it quickly became a symbol of W

Memorial Church - The Church is a memorial to King Wilhelm. It was destroyed during the 2nd world war and has been partially renovated.

KaDeWe - The Kaufhaus des Westens is the largest shopping center on the European continent. All major international brands such as Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Versace. On the 6th floor houses a gourmet section, which is world-renowned.

Museum Island - This is the location of some of Berlin's best museums: the Pergamon Museum, Altes Museum, the Nationalgalerie and the Bodemuseum. The Berliner Dom, stands next to the Altes Museum and houses the remains of 90 family members in its vault.

Brandenburger Tor - The gate was embedded in the Berlin Wall and firmly locked for the duration of Communist rule. The gate now symbolizes reunification and stands majestically in the centre of Berlin, physically joining the two sides of the city.

German Opera House - At 4 km distance.

Zoo (Zoological Garden) - In 1842 Friedrich Wilhelm IV gave the Zoo to the city of Berlin. Nowadays the Zoo is through its great amount of species (1500) as the most diverse zoo in the world.

Friedrichstrasse Boulevard - At 5 km distance.

ARD-Studio - At the end of the 1980s a panorama cinema was constructed as an addition to the centre around the Zoo. Its blue dome created a new accent on Breitscheidplatz.

Office of the Federal President and Bellevue Palac - Bellevue Palace was built between 1785 and 1790 to plans by Michael Philipp Daniel Boumann for the younger brother of Frederick the Great.In the 1950s it was restored and used as the official Berlin residence of the Federal President.

Reichstag Building - The Reichstag was designed by Paul Wallot and built between 1884 and 1894. Following conversion work by Lord Norman Foster it has been used since 1999 as the seat of the German Bundestag.
